Tidi files your Mac by rules you write — receipts, screenshots, installers, whatever you keep re-filing by hand. It all happens on your machine, and every move can be taken back.

The rules are yours.
Tidi starts with five rules that cover what actually piles up: receipts and invoices, screenshots, installers and disk images, archives, and loose code files. Turn any of them off, edit the conditions, or write your own.
The visual builder matches on extension, name pattern, size, age, or text found inside the file. If you would rather just say it, type it in plain English and Tidi writes the rule for you.
- Plain English
- “Move screenshots older than 3 days to Pictures/Screenshots.”
- Reads inside files
- Apple's Vision framework recognises the text in a PDF or an image, so a receipt is filed as a receipt whatever it is named.
- Runs on a schedule
- Hourly, daily, weekly, or at login — or never, and only when you press the button.
- Receipts & Invoices (Vision OCR) Receipts & Taxes Detected receipt or invoice (Vision) • Vision OCR contains: receipt, invoice, tax, statement, order confirmation
- Screenshots to Pictures Screenshots Category is Screenshots • Name starts with “Screenshot”
- Installers & Disk Images Archives & Installers Extension is dmg, pkg, iso • Category is Installers
- Archives (.zip, .tar, .gz) Archives & Installers Extension is zip, tar, gz, tgz, rar, 7z
- Code Snippets & Repos Code & Projects Detected code snippet • Extension is swift, py, ts, js, json, sh, rs, go
Nothing leaves your Mac.
There is no account to create, no server to talk to, and no third-party SDK anywhere in the app. Text recognition, rule matching and every file move happen locally on your machine, which is why Tidi ships without the network entitlement at all.
Tidi runs inside Apple's App Sandbox, so it can only reach the folders you hand it, and it remembers that permission through a security-scoped bookmark rather than by asking again every launch.
Read the full privacy policy.
- Works signed out. Tidi never asks who you are.
- No analytics. Nothing measures you — no telemetry, crash reporter, or ping home.
- Files stay put. Nothing is ever copied off the machine.
- Sandboxed. Only the folders you choose, only while you use them.
Every move can be taken back.
Tidi writes each batch to a transaction journal before it touches a file. When a sort finishes, an undo control stays on screen for ten seconds — and ⌘Z reverses the whole batch whenever you reach for it, not just the last file.
Files are moved, never rewritten. Name collisions resolve to file 2.ext instead of overwriting anything.
